IconWrap INIT (Version 1.2)
===========================

You may use and distribute IconWrap at no charge, but you may not
sell it, or collect money for its distribution (normal disk duplication
fees excepted). Anyone wishing to distribute IconWrap along with any
commercial or shareware software package may do so only with the express
written consent of the author.
What, Why, & How
----------------
If you have a large number of INITs that display their icons
at startup, you may have noticed that the single row on the bottom
of the screen fills up rather quickly, and icons "off the right edge"
are not visible. IconWrap is an INIT that will "wrap" the icons
around to begin a new row when the edge of the screen has been
reached. To use IconWrap, simply place it in your System Folder.
In order to be effective, IconWrap must run at some point BEFORE the
first row of icons hits the right edge of the screen; if this is a
problem, simply rename IconWrap so that its name is alphabetically
superior to the last INIT in the first row.
Be aware that some INITs do not use the "ShowINIT" standard
(developed by Paul Mercer of Apple) for startup icon display. These
INITs may place their icon in a different row than you expect them
to, or at a fixed location on the screen. Unfortunately, there is little
IconWrap can do (at least in this version) to recognize non-standard
INITs. You may be able to achieve a satisfactory startup display by
renaming these INITs so that they load before IconWrap, or else are
the last to be loaded.
Modification History
--------------------
written by Ken McLeod:
thecloud@dhw68k.cts.com
started 11/21/88; based on an idea by David Phillip Oster
1.0 11/24/88: got it working, but Moire and Backdrop crash.
1.01 11/27/88: fixed the problem by saving and restoring A5
in main(); _InitGraf was trashing the real QD
globals. (reported by John Lim)
1.1 3/3/89: rewrote IconWrap from scratch to fix bad interactions
with HyperCard, etc. on a Macintosh II; changed file
creator type to 'WRAP'
1.2 4/4/89: color icons are now offset to the correct row;
added 'cicn' to IconWrap
